Shell Museum and Saint Martins Church

The unique Shell Museum in Glandford near Holt was built in 1915 by the late Sir Alfred Jodrell Bart, to house his own private worldwide collection of sea shells. Other exhibits include jewellery, fragments of pottery, a piece of Pompeii, a sugar bowl used by Queen Elizabeth 1, fine specimens of agate ware, and a neolithic axehead. There is also a large tapestry depicting the North Norfolk Coast. Above the museum sits the church of St Martin which was magnificently restored by Sir Alfred in 1906.
